The Meissner Effect are a 5 piece outfit from Glasgow formed by myself in January 2020 shortly after the split of
Zal Cleminson's Sin Dogs.
I decided it was time to put together a band of musician's who who I felt were professional, great to work with, and able to combine their talents with me to write and perform music primarily in the Funk and Rock genres but will also have some Blues, Fusion and other styles combined within our sound.
Since the band's incarnation we have been working hard in the studio and we're almost at the stage of releasing our material.
We plan to put out our first single which is called ''Sober'' and this will also coincide with a music video. We are aiming to have both online by October 2021.
This will be followed by our debut studio album titled ''Invisible Music'' which will be released towards the end of 2021.
The band have many musical influences and in the material it's clearly showcased as the song's are very melodic, harmonic, with real spices of technical musicianship which breaks us away from the 'Norm' from most commercial band's currently on the scene.
Some of the band's influences are:
TOTO
Snarky Puppy
Pink Floyd
Porcupine Tree
Dirty Loops
Karnivool
Dimitriy Petrov's Fusion Project
Steely Dan
Sound Garden
Martin Miller (Guitarist Solo Artist)
Alice In Chains
Stevie Wonder
Gary Moore
and more..
The Band are:
David Cowan - Keyboards
John Murray - Lead Vocals
Nelson McFarlane - Bass
Andy McLaughlan - Lead Guitar
Dimitris Skouras - Drums
The band will be setting up an official website sometime later in the year so once this is up and running, please check it regularly for updates on gig dates, future recordings and more..

and many others.

Dimitris Skouras is originally from Greece, but set up home here in Glasgow several years ago.
He began his musical journey aged 6 when he studied percussion in a national conservatory.
By the age of 17 he was performing as a professional drummer and has since been involved in many projects in different genres from Pop, Rock, Prog-Rock, Neo-Soul, and Metal with bands such as:

No Brain Cell,
M.A.N.T.I, and Jessica's Theme Band.
Dimitris influences include:
Herbie Hancock

He is without a doubt one of the best drummers in Scotland at the moment. He is very experienced, enthusiastic, passionate, and above all, has a top professional attitude which is a pleasure to work with.
When it comes to arranging material especially within this band, Dimitris isn't shy from giving his inputs and ideas to enhancing the song structures and arrangements.
