The Meissner Effect are a 5 piece outfit from Glasgow formed by myself in January 2020 shortly after the split of
Zal Cleminson's Sin Dogs.
I decided it was time to put together a band of musician's who who I felt were professional, great to work with, and able to combine their talents with me to write and perform music primarily in the Funk and Rock genres but will also have some Blues, Fusion and other styles combined within our sound.
Since the band's incarnation we have been working hard in the studio and we're almost at the stage of releasing our material.
We plan to put out our first single which is called ''Sober'' and this will also coincide with a music video. We are aiming to have both online by October 2021.
This will be followed by our debut studio album titled ''Invisible Music'' which will be released towards the end of 2021.
The band have many musical influences and in the material it's clearly showcased as the song's are very melodic, harmonic, with real spices of technical musicianship which breaks us away from the 'Norm' from most commercial band's currently on the scene.
Some of the band's influences are:
Dimitriy Petrov's Fusion Project
Martin Miller (Guitarist Solo Artist)
Alice In Chains
The Band are:
David Cowan - Keyboards
John Murray - Lead Vocals
Nelson McFarlane - Bass
Andy McLaughlan - Lead Guitar
Dimitris Skouras - Drums
The band will be setting up an official website sometime later in the year so once this is up and running, please check it regularly for updates on gig dates, future recordings and more..

Andy is an exceptionally talented guitarist from Wishaw, Glasgow and has been playing guitar for over 18 years.
He is versatile in many different styles of music from Rock, Metal to Jazz, Blues and Funk and due to his skills he has set up guitar masterclass workshops which featured some of the best guitarists in the world - with the likes of:
Martin Miller and many more coming to Scotland.
Andy has also worked with bands such as:
Rare Groove Band

and many others.
Andy has been a guitar tutor for 11 years and currently works at the PLAY MUSIC NOW school in Wishaw.
Andy is also recording guitars on IDENTITY: OUT OF THE DARK PART II which is due to be released in October 2021.
Nelson is a bassist with almost 50 years experience and is no stranger to both the Glasgow & Edinburgh scene who has worked with bands like Holocaust, Hologram, Oscar Córdoba Band and more recently with David in Zal Cleminsons Sin Dogs.
Nelson also works with David in two other projects:
The Sensational Alex Harvey Experience & The Greig Taylor Blues Combo.
He is also a successful gig promoter and has his own company NTM Promotions which book some of the best bands on the scene.
His influences range from Stanley Clarke to

Nelson is a very steady player with a great feel and knowledge of the instrument who can turn his hand to many styles of music and is still in high demand from other band's and artists for session work in both recording and live performance.

He is without a doubt one of the best drummers in Scotland at the moment. He is very experienced, enthusiastic, passionate, and above all, has a top professional attitude which is a pleasure to work with.
When it comes to arranging material especially within this band, Dimitris isn't shy from giving his inputs and ideas to enhancing the song structures and arrangements.
